Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Ziren ("Ziren," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when you use the Ziren mobile and web application (the "Service"). Ziren is operated by the Ziren development team.
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this Privacy Policy. This policy applies to all users of Ziren.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account and Registration Information
When you register for Ziren, we collect:
-
Email address
— used to create your account, verify your identity, send a welcome email, and deliver password reset links.
-
Password
— stored in hashed form by our authentication provider; we never see or store it in plaintext.
-
OAuth profile data
— if you sign up or log in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft, we receive the name and email address that the provider shares with us. We do not access or store your provider passwords.
Ziren does
not
collect your date of birth or age during registration or onboarding. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
1.2 Profile Information
Information you may add to your profile includes: display name, username, and a short bio; profile photo (uploaded by you); interests and motivations selected during onboarding; a current goal, stage of life, and self-selected preferences; notification preferences and privacy settings you configure.
1.3 User-Generated Content
When you create content in Ziren, that content is stored in our database and associated with your account. This includes: community content (posts, questions, answers, replies, and recommended resources you publish, including any text, photos, and videos you attach); goals and habits (goal titles, descriptions, target dates, progress, milestones, and habit tracking data); journal entries (the title, text, mood, tags, and images you record — private by default and visible only to you); vision boards (board names, descriptions, cover images, and individual vision items); messages (the text, images, videos, and shared content you send to other users through direct messages, along with conversation metadata); financial tracking data (transaction titles, amounts, categories, dates, and optional notes you enter in the Money Tracker feature — this is self-entered personal financial data; we do not connect to your bank or financial institutions); saved insights and supporter relationships; reports and feedback you submit.
1.4 AI Inputs and Outputs (Polaris)
Ziren includes an AI assistant called Polaris. When you interact with Polaris, we process: the questions and messages you send to Polaris; for journal AI reflections, the text of your journal entry and your selected mood; your focus area and relevant entries from the Ziren Knowledge Library and community answers, which are included in the prompt to make responses more useful; the AI-generated responses, which are stored so you can revisit your conversations and reflections. Polaris conversations are stored privately and are visible only to you. AI processing is performed through our platform's AI integration provider. Polaris provides general educational guidance and is not a substitute for professional advice.
1.5 Media and Files
Photos and videos you upload (for posts, journal entries, vision boards, messages, and your profile photo) are stored on our platform's file storage. Videos created in Ziren must be between 30 seconds and 5 minutes in length.
1.6 Device and Technical Information
When you use Ziren, our platform automatically collects certain technical information, including: IP address and network information, processed by our hosting infrastructure to deliver the Service and maintain security; device type, operating system, and browser information transmitted in standard network requests; authentication tokens and session identifiers stored on your device to keep you signed in; platform-level service logs used to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service. Ziren does
not
currently use third-party analytics SDKs, advertising trackers, or cross-app advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other websites or applications.
1.7 Cookies and Local Storage
Ziren uses local storage and a limited cookie to operate the Service: an authentication token stored in your browser's local storage to keep you signed in; preference data (such as notification preferences, theme, and draft content) stored in local storage so your settings persist; a UI state cookie to remember your sidebar preference on larger screens. These are functional storage mechanisms required to operate Ziren. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: create and manage your account and authenticate you across devices; provide and personalize the Ziren experience, including matching you with relevant communities based on your onboarding selections; store, display, and let you manage the content you create; generate AI responses and reflections through Polaris; deliver in-app and optional browser notifications based on your preferences, such as goal reminders and community activity; enable direct messaging and supporter relationships between users; send transactional emails, such as a welcome email and password reset links; maintain platform safety through reporting, moderation, and block features; operate, secure, and improve the Service and fix technical issues.
3. How We Share Your Information
3.1 Public and Shared Content
Content you choose to publish publicly — such as community posts, questions, answers, replies, and public profile information — is visible to other Ziren users. Your direct messages are visible only to the participants of that conversation. Journal entries are private by default. You can control the visibility of your profile, goals, vision boards, and other content through your privacy settings.
3.2 Service Providers
We use the Base44 platform and its service providers to operate Ziren. These providers process information on our behalf to deliver hosting, database storage, authentication, email, file storage, and AI processing. Categories of third parties that may receive or process data include: a cloud hosting and database provider (stores your account, content, and application data); an authentication provider (manages account credentials, tokens, and sign-in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft); an AI processing provider (processes Polaris prompts and journal reflections); a file storage provider (stores photos, videos, and other files you upload); an email delivery provider (sends transactional emails such as welcome and password reset messages).
3.3 Legal Obligations and Safety
We may disclose information when required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, safety, or security of Ziren, our users, or others. This includes investigating and acting on reports of violations of our Community Guidelines and Child Safety Standards.
3.4 What We Do Not Do
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not share your personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics networks that track you across other apps or websites.
4. Data Retention
We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. Account data and the content you create remain stored until you delete them. When you delete specific content (such as a post, journal entry, goal, or transaction), it is removed from your view and from our active database. We may retain certain information after account deletion where required by law, to complete transactions, or to enforce our policies and protect against abuse — but only for as long as reasonably necessary.
5. Account and Data Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account Management → Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Deleting your account removes your profile and signs you out of the Service. You may also delete individual pieces of content at any time within the app, including posts, journal entries, goals, habits, transactions, vision boards, and messages you have sent. To request full deletion of your data or assistance with account deletion, you may contact us at help.joinziren@gmail.com.
6. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; correct or update inaccurate or incomplete information through your Settings or by contacting us; delete your account and associated data as described in Section 5; export a copy of your data by contacting us; withdraw consent for notifications and adjust your privacy and notification preferences in Settings; object to or restrict certain processing of your data. To exercise any of these rights, visit Settings or email us at help.joinziren@gmail.com. We will respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe and as required by applicable law.
7. AI Data Processing
Ziren uses AI through our platform's AI integration to power Polaris, your AI mentor, and to generate optional journal reflections. Your inputs (questions, journal text, and selected context such as your focus area and relevant Knowledge Library entries) are sent to our AI provider to generate a response. The responses and your conversation history are stored so you can revisit them. Polaris conversations are private and visible only to you. AI-generated content is general and educational in nature and should not be relied upon for professional medical, legal, financial, or other specialized advice.
8. Push and Browser Notifications
With your permission, Ziren may send in-app and browser notifications to keep you informed about activity relevant to you, such as replies, messages, and goal reminders. You can control notification categories and turn notifications on or off at any time in Settings. Browser notifications require your explicit permission and can be revoked through your browser or device settings.
9. Financial Information
The Money Tracker feature lets you manually enter transaction titles, amounts, categories, dates, and notes for your own personal tracking. This information is stored privately with your account and is not shared with other users. Ziren does not connect to your bank, credit card, or any external financial institution, and does not collect payment card or banking credentials through this feature.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted authentication tokens, row-level access controls that restrict who can read and modify data, and a service-role architecture for privileged operations. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Children's and Teen's Privacy
Ziren is designed for teens and young adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because we do not collect date of birth, we rely on users to truthfully represent their age when registering. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete that information. Ziren maintains Child Safety Standards and a reporting system for unsafe content or behavior. If you believe a child's safety is at risk on Ziren, contact us immediately at help.joinziren@gmail.com. For users under 18 (where applicable), we limit certain data sharing and provide privacy controls. We encourage parents and guardians to discuss appropriate use of social platforms with teens in their care.
12. International Data Transfers
Ziren is hosted on cloud infrastructure that may store and process data in regions different from your own. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, subject to the protections described in this Privacy Policy.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you through the app. Continued use of Ziren after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
